Christina Ritter began her ballet studies at the age of 10 as a participant in The San Antonio Ballet Scholarship Program, a generous and highly successful outreach that offered talented youth a quality dance education, free of charge. As a teenager, Christina was invited to train at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., where her teachers included Alla Sizova and Yelena Vinogradova. As an undergraduate student at NYU, Christina studied dance technique and ballet pedagogy and earned a B.A. in Philosophy.
Christina has danced with a number of chamber companies, and in the Bay Area, she has performed principal roles with the Presidio Dance Theatre and the San Francisco Youth Ballet Theatre. Her classical repertoire includes The Sugar Plum Fairy; Princess Florine; and The Dying Swan.
Christina is an experienced ballet instructor who combines mind-body exercises with the Vaganova Method to develop clean lines and safe technique. Outside of classical ballet, her interests include contemporary dance and contact improvisation. |
