Angela Yuen Uyeda began her dance training at Shan Yee Poon Ballet School, San Francisco Youth Ballet Academy, and City Ballet School where she was privileged to work with choreographer Yuri Zhukov from San Francisco Ballet. Additionally, she studied in Arizona and also performed with Christine Liao School of Ballet in Hong Kong. For SFYBA, she performed soloist and character roles in Paquita, Les Sylphides, Sleeping Beauty, Peter and the Wolf, and The Nutcracker. In addition to ballet, she was a soloist in classical Chinese dance with Peony Performing Arts invited as guest artist to World Arts West's People Like Me tour in 2007. Currently, Angela tours nationally with Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company, performing traditional and contemporary works. She also teaches Creative Movement and Chinese Dance in several San Francisco elementary schools. As an instructor for children and adults at SFYBA, Angela hopes to share with them the beauty and discipline of ballet, balancing proper technique with individual artistry.
